have a light

I dont suppose you have a light

for an old man down on his luck

I had a map and a plan of sorts

but now those things don’t mean that much

dreams came true alright

with dreams of their own, and guess what

although love did what it could

it never did quite enough

you don't get nothin' for your trouble

don't get nothin' for your time

except a mean disposition, worn out parts

sorrow and a dissatisfied mind

I don’t suppose you have a light

this darkness really sucks

I’ve been through quite a lot

but I’m really not that tough

I would not impose if there were
another way out of this dump

I use to have faith in all things good

but faith ran away with my stuff

you dont get nothin for your trouble

dont get nothin for your time

cept a mean disposition, worn out parts

sorrow and a dissatisfied mind

I was a teenage werewolf

What was I prowling the streets for?

looking for that glad affair

god knows I was scared

maybe I sought light

maybe on my own terms in the night

but who was I then?

a full moon cowboy?

when one breaks free one releases into the ether

the other the brother the doppelgänger

the giddy homunculus in my brain

never really that well trained

thinly stretched human skin deprived of touch

hungry soul deprived of lunch

but who was I then?

I was a teenage werewolf

with my cohorts and concoctions

lazy eyelids and quivering lips

a broken smile and manufactured swagger

looking for a seat on the train with captain trips

forgetting friends and finding fiends

fighting demons with misdeeds

sinning and winning with drunken guts and greed

but who was I then?

I was a teenage werewolf

this river has a bottom

this river has a bottom

and on it settles the hopes and dreams

of  those who never make it to sea

just short of eternity

a muddy floor of fossils waiting

just now a sunken vessel

past the point of no return

rests its weary hull

on the underwater berm

cool water washes in its portals

the captain punctuates with pointed pen

the end

we salute him

and as if there were no vessel ever

the laughing gliding flowing river

glitters

the surface waving innocent

playfully taunting rocks on shore

only whispers

this river has a bottom

We are twisted together

We are twisted together, Tied together, Frozen together

Made together we stay together forever

Thrown together,

into oceans and rivers

Linked together, connected

Sewn together from stuff we remember

Through fields of summer

Snow in winter with rough hewn ropes

Daisy chains of loose ends, tight reins and bridles braided with bits of information and communication though wires and words we are tangled together

bound together in entwined endeavor

frozen together with clever knots of ancient leather that can never be severed

molded melded and melted together

knitted, fitted, committed, co-mingled and mixed

made together we stayed together forever

just remember

we are friends forever
